  Up to a total of 3,700 million euros are collected each year for the annual apple harvest in the United States. A business that sees how labor increasingly decreases and looks for technology in its revulsive.

To mitigate this factor, Abundant Robotics was launched as a spin-off in 2016 and has managed to create a robot capable of collecting ripe fruit from trees. The machine deposits the fruits inside the same wooden boxes that the human collectors use.

  "Our commercial system will collect at the same pace as a team of dozens of people," says Dan Steere, co-founder and CEO of the startup. The prototype of the company detects apples susceptible to being caught with approximately the same precision as a human.

"The results have convinced us that we are ready to scale up to a commercial system," adds Steere.

At the moment, the wishes of Dan Steere are just a prototype that will advance next fall in the collection in the state of Washington (USA) and expected to go on the market during 2018.
