Google and Ayuda en Acción close the 2nd edition of 'GEN10S' with more than 5,300 students trained in programming

Ayuda en Acción and Google.org have closed the second edition of 'GEN10S' with a total of 5,354 primary school children trained in programming, belonging to 51 schools in eleven autonomous communities, and more than 400 teachers involved to strengthen their skills technological

This was announced on Tuesday, June 13 by the promoters of this project, whose objective is to promote the teaching of programming to promote greater equality of opportunities in the use of the digital environment, reduce socio-economic and gender barriers and promote entrepreneurship .

In this regard, they recalled that the project offers each school a specialized instructor, Young Inventors , who accompanies and trains the classroom teacher, to teach how to program with Scratch, using a methodology based on solving challenges for development of their social competences.

Teamwork and roles, debates on issues of education in values, exchange of opinions and tricks, reflect on conflicts that arise and share the results of projects, are some of the methods used.

26 clubs

On the other hand, Ayuda en Acción and Google.org have indicated that, as a complement to the 'GEN10S' classes, 26 'GEN10S' Clubs have been created , in which more than 460 students have participated (49% of children compared to 51% girls) voluntarily and after school.

In this point, they have detailed that the methodology of the clubs is also based on the resolution of challenges , and that the theme that has been raised this course is the 'fight against child labor'. In this way, the students have programmed an interactive story or a videogame in which the reality of the minors that are forced to work (in the field, in a factory, etc.) is addressed and they do not have the possibility of continuing studying. .

To recognize the effort of the students and their participation in the clubs, the second edition of the 'GEN10S Party in Madrid' has been celebrated, with the attendance of more than 100 children, of 5th and 6th grade, of 51 educational centers throughout Spain.

Coinciding with the World Day Against Child Labor on June 12, the participants have presented their work to other teams, and have enjoyed recreational-educational activities on the possibilities offered by technology in different areas (3D, virtual reality, robotics, animation, etc)
