Nintendo reinvents his pet with 'Super Mario Odyssey'

The company announces a role-playing game of 'Pokémon' for Switch, as well as 'Metroid Prime 4' and two new titles of Yoshi and Kirby

   It's amazing how many lives Mario has. The video game icon manages to reinvent itself almost every iteration and 'Super Mario Odyssey' is no exception. The title, which has put the finishing touch to the Nintendo Spotlight - the video that the Japanese company launches on the occasion of the E3 of Los Angeles to present its novelties -, showed a new skill of the plumber: the ability to possess almost any character present In the colorful world of the mustachioed hero throwing his characteristic cap to the head.

   The skepticism that had generated the first images of the title, with a carefree Mario walking the streets of a realist city that smells of New York, has dissipated when the character of the red monkey became, by blow of cap, dinosaur, bullet and turtle. And then it has become hysterical when they have shown the rest of the locations in which Mario must run and jump, much more in line with the series he stars. The game will reach the Nintendo Switch on October 27. It will surely be a great complement to'Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle' , the title of Ubisoft that will arrive on August 29.

   But Nintendo hoarded titles in the presentation that had not even spoken before. This is the case of 'Metroid Prime 4', which on this occasion will not be developed by Retro Studios, the team behind the previous deliveries, but will preserve Kensuke Tanabe as producer. The fans had to settle for a logo.

More luck had the followers of Kirby and Yoshi. The two mascots have titles in development that will see the light in 2018. Kirby will star in an action game - the heavy character used a sword and was wearing a hat very similar to Link's, platforms and puzzles that, judging by the video, up to four people can play cooperatively.

  As for the title of Yoshi in development, this time paper and cardboard will be key in the artistic direction of a more reflective game that recalls, for aesthetics, 'Little Big Planet' and will make use of two perspectives - the characters can change sides - to enrich the exploration and the search for secrets.

Finally, one of the most responsible of The Pokémon Company made an appearance to announce that, in addition to the 'Pokken Tournament', the fighting game starring the Pokémon, the team is developing a role-playing game based on the characters of the mythical franchise and style developed for Game Boy and 3DS for Switch. And it was already said by Reggie Fils-Aime, president of Nintendo of America, during the presentation: "It's not just about where you take the game, it's about where the game takes you."

Nintendo Spotlight also served to unveil some dates. Thus, 'Rocket League', which will have a cross game with PC and Xbox One, will arrive at Switch at the end of the year. The same will happen with the Japanese role-playing game 'Xenoblade Chronicles 2'. As for the expansions of 'The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild', the first, titled 'The Master Trials', will arrive in June. The second one, 'The Champions Ballad', will do so at the end of the year.
