Sinead McNamara was found unconscious in a boat by Alberto Bailleres and died later



The circumstances surrounding his death on a yacht in Greece are a mystery.

Sinead McNamara, a 20-year-old Australian, was found in a critical situation on the yacht where she worked as a member of the crew and died while being airlifted to the hospital.

The Greek authorities initiated an investigation into their last hours aboard the vessel.

The yacht, the Mayan Queen IV, is owned by Mexican magnate Alberto Bailleres. He and his family left the boat days before the incident, according to Greek media reports.


Greek media reported that the authorities ordered the yacht to remain in the port of Argostoli , on the island of Kefalonia, while the investigations are being carried out.

Only the ship's crew was on board when McNamara was found unconscious and with a rope on the back of the ship, The Australian newspaper reported.

His cousin told The Daily Telegraph that his family did not know the cause of death but that they believed it could have been a ship accident .

The newspaper reported that McNamara's mother and sister were on their way to Greece to visit her when they received the news.

A "life without fear"
McNamara regularly published photos of his trips on his Instagram account, which had more than 12,000 followers.

"Living and working on a boat seeing all that the world has to offer, yes, I think I'm pretty good," he wrote in one of his publications last month.

Her friends expressed their condolences on social networks and described her as a "free spirit" and "adventurous" soul.

"You lived life without fear and it is a blessing to have known you," wrote a friend.

Australian youtuber Alex Hayex, friend of McNamara, shared a tribute through an Instagram story with his 650,000 followers.


"Life is so precious," he wrote. " He left too early, such a beautiful human being will remain in our memory ."

Several of his followers also left messages in the last post that appeared in his account.
